The “Pachołek” hill

The “Pachołek” hill is located at an altitude of 107 meters above sea level and is located in forests of Oliwa.

A long staircase leads to the top, which I noticed is also a frequent place visited by people who do sports. At the very top there is a green metal 15-meter structure, which is an observation tower. I must admit that at any time of the year, this place is very popular. When one climbs the mountain, he or she can admire a beautiful view of the Tricity Landscape Park, the Bay of Gdansk and the Hel Peninsula. In addition, one can see many characteristic places and buildings of Gdansk and Sopot, such as the St. Mary’s Tower, shipyards’ cranes or the Energa stadium. An interesting thing is that scout camps were held at the foot of hill during a holiday season with the participation of young people from Central and Eastern Europe. I strongly recommend visiting this place because the view from it is really magical.

A place that is also worth visiting is an observation point on 80 Kosmonautów Street. This is the ridge located close to the Gdansk-Rębiechowo airport. It is worth noting in advance that the best time to go there is when the sky is cloudless and it does not rain. Standing on a hill, one have a perfect view of the taking-off and landing planes. One see an entire process that accompanies departing planes. The view is fascinating as the point is very close to the runway. It is a good idea to check out flights on the site: esky.pl where one can see from which country and at what time the next plane will arrive. This is one of three so-called “spotters position”. The other two are on Szybowcowa Street and across from the bus terminus in Bysewo.

The entrance is free, of course.There are rails and a trash can. In summer, this is a frequently visited place by fans of everything related to airplanes, but I think this view will take layman ‘s breath away, too.
