The history of scouting

Scouting in Poland appeared in 1910, and the first team in Gdansk in 1920. In August 1939, scouts took an active part in defending their homeland. The father of scouts in Gdańsk was Alf Liczmański, who was arrested in 1939 and killed in 1940 near Gdańsk. Every year, we organize a camp in his honor and ride in the place of his hard labor. Scouting was revived after the war in the 80s and now has an educational character.

Contemporary scouting

Today’s scouting is more like school than army. Teams are divided according to age. Scouts learn about topography, survival, patriotism, first aid and volunteering. Each team meets once a week and once a month goes hiking or camping. We differ in colors of berets and scarves. There are over 1,000 scouts and 300 teams in our city, each with a different color, number and, of course, stories.

Volunteering

On holidays in the heart of the city, we always organize breakfast for the poor and the homeless. Scouts serve and heat food there, and also simply help people and clean everything.
